Multi-disciplinary, Paris born, Arizona-based artist Matt Magee employs photography as a means of recordkeeping in his investigation of pattern and contemporary language. Informed by his travels and research in geology and archaeology, Magee captures pedestrian moments that resonate with his findings. His precisely arranged compositions evoke secret codes and symbolic messaging. Methods of stacking and sequencing translate into two- and three-dimensional works. With his unconventional use of recycled materials and distinctive eye for the unusual, Magee transforms the everyday into the wondrous.

Canadian, New York and Scottsdale-based designer and educator Stephanie Lin examines form and material through the lens of architecture. With digital and hands-on approaches, her work encapsulates lightness and ephemerality. UTILITY highlights Lin’s recent monumental, interactive sculptural installation commissioned by Public Art Company for the renowned Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Her dreamy, cloud-like forms ranging from 25 to 50 feet tall provide communal and contemplative spaces that transform the desert landscape. Lin’s built work is reimagined for the gallery perspective through new printed drawings and artifacts, offering a welcoming glimpse into the process of creation.

Scottsdale-based fiber artist and public art curator Wendy Raisanen expands on quilting traditions to engage community. Her series, Happy Now, addresses current themes of commodity and transportation, environment, and human nature. Via colorful, thoughtfully crafted tapestries resembling painted canvases, Raisanen boldly engages soft power and invites the viewer to new discoveries and meaningful connections.
